Never Ending Happiness

“He said, Young man, I say unto thee, Arise! And he that was dead sat up and began to speak.” Luke 7: 14, 15.
Scientific experts and
medical authorities may devise remarkable, complicated apparatus by which they
seek to restore or prolong life, but they cannot add a split second to the
allotted life span, let alone return a soul that has entered the valley of
death. Multimillionaires and Rulers of mighty empires have pleaded on their
deathbeds for a day, an hour more; but all their money and might could not
purchase the slightest extension. When their breath, stopped, they were gone
beyond recall. Yet here is One who is higher than princes and potentates,
scientists and savants; here in Christ we have our God of grace and glory, who
has to speak but one word, “Arise!” and death is robbed of its victim.
If all Scripture passages
testifying to the Savior’s deity were to disappear and only the record of the
resurrection at Nain remained, this truth alone
should convince the most skeptical that Jesus of Nazareth was more than man,
more than angels, nothing less than the very God of very God. Because Jesus
Himself bore our “sins in His own body on the tree,” He has removed the curse
of everlasting death. As He united mother and son outside the Nain gates, so, but in a much higher way, He will reunite
all the faithful in the never-ending happiness of the heavenly homeland.
